Citalopram and eye pain

I have finally weaned myself off ..from 40mg to zero..it's taken a year ..I have been free of the meds for 24 days..has anyone suffered with really bad eye pain either when taking the meds or when withdrawing ?

the last bit of withdrawal was difficult ..I almost gave in ..I was irritable ,nasty, weepy irrational ..but I stuck it out .I am hopeful the worst is over

Oh Pat,that's fantastic. I remember withdrawal from cit very well.

Luckily I was very stable by that point so I knew all that was happening was down to withdrawal. I think I had trembles for about 6 month after and my mum would break her heart because she thought I was in distress. Funny thing is,I wasn't.

I think I'd mastered the art of positive self talk. I was strong. It was no picnic that's for sure but I made it through xx

Hi Pat, well done, i hope you will feel better for not needing meds anymore. I suffer from eye pain, i am on Citalopram. My eye pain was diagnosed by eye hospital after 3 years as eye migraine. This is not related to the meds as i have not been on them long. I was told it can be caused by tiredness. As you have only had it once i wouldn't worry, if you get it regular get it checked out.

Thank you for replying ..I have worried so much about it..ironically the citalopram was prescribed for headaches !!..I was told I was stressed ..I said I wasn't but GP insisted the tabs would make me better ..to begin with I guess they did ..but the increased dose was too much ..couldn't sleep and had severe sweating...hope you are ok on them ?

      best wishes. Pat

Hi Pat, i am only on 10mg as i found 20mg had to many side effects and this just takes the edge off for me. Only been taking them for about 4 months now.

Hi Elizabeth ..I found when  I was reducing citalopram that 10mg suited me much better than the higher dose..if I ever need to go back on them I will stick at 10mg..hope you can stay on 10mg
