Citalopram and pins and needles/leg cramps at night!

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hey everyone...

I am week 3 of 20mg Citalopram. I never really had any physical side effects from 10mg apart from heightened anxiety in the first couple of weeks.

Since 20mg my sleep has been terrible - I'm waking so many times a night, feeling sweaty. I also feel uncomfortable with either pins and needles or different muscles cramping or twitching! Has anyone else had this?

Has anyone got any tips/hints/tricks to counteract this? I thought about magnesium supplements...tonic water?

Thanks x

try the epsom salts first as a lot of people react badly to supplements when first upping or downing dose, or if you do start small x

its completely normal x the heightened anxiety can cause this too. I still get the cramps and tingling occasionally but nowhere near as much as at the beginning.

it's really early days and it will pass x

toria suggested epsom bath salts to me and I'm so glad she did x they really help

Thanks, I'm going to buy some tonight. I have a tingle in my back today which I'm sure is because I'm having quite an anxious day today. My legs are only really affected at night so I will bath with Epsom before bed tonight 😃 x

I am 5 and a half months on cit 4 months on 30mg. I was really bad with anxiety and depression and health anxiety too. I am now much better but am not fully recovered. I was off work for 3 months and went back in November. I have had muscle aches and twitching since day 1 which really has not helped my health anxiety. Mentally I am so much better but still have alot of physical effects lethargy, sore eyes and trouble with my swallow which I have had since August it has improved but is not right. We must keep persevering.
