Citalopram and sleep

Posted , 4 users are following.

So just starting my 5th week of 20mg for depression. Definitely feeling the effects and feeling a lot more like myself. Which is great. However, I can't sleep for longer than 2 hours! Then I'm tossing and turning all night. Doctor prescribed me zopiclone for when I'm desperate, but even these don't help! Took two last night and still up and down. Tried kalms and nytol. Any advice? It's driving me insane!

Thanks for your help!

I had some fairly major insomnia on it which has only just sorted itself out the past 2-3wks and this is my 8th week. My doctor prescribed temazapan which helped get me to sleep but only provided about 3-4hrs sleep whether I took 1 or 2 but 1 was enough to survive the day at work, while 2 was too much and made the first few hours very difficult as I suspect it hadn't cleared my system.

It's been difficult early but the past week I've finally felt like all major side effects have sorted themselves out. I forgot to take my Cit tablet 1 morning and woke up around 3am the next morning with major anxiety but I took it straight away rather than waiting until my normal time and by about midday I felt back to normal.

hi i've been on citalopram for 4 weeks now but also on zopiclone i take the citopram an hour before i take the zipiclone i do seem to nod off reasonably quick and then wake up maybe 6 hours later but one night i didnt take them and i just couldn't get my head down and the next day i wasn't ok at all my advice would be to take your citalpram an hour before the zipiclone it might not work for you but you never know i hope this is of some help keep your chin which is what i am trying to do i wish you the very best in your recovery i know i have a long way to go myself but i feel like the citalpram might be doing its job so just stick with it.

    Hi Elizabeth,

I've been having the same problems with sleepless nights (Insomnia). I've also tried Zopiclone with no luck either.

Not sure if you can take these two together but it worked for me.

Sleepeaze 50 mg and 10mils of Piriton (The drowsy stuff) Slept like a baby for 8 hrs. Did the same thing the next few nights but only had 25mg of Sleepeaze with 10 Mils of Piriton. Worked a treat with 7-8 hrs sleep again. Gonna try tonight with just Piriton and see how that goes?

    Hopefully it workssmile

    Regards
