Citalopram causing sleepless nights. Need advice

Struggled with anxiety/panic attacks for a few years but only done something about it about a year ago. Dr gave me setraline to stop the panic attacks which it did for about a year and recently had a real bad one and just felt like they were not working anymore and was back to feeling vunrable again. the Dr took me off setraline and put me on 20mg citalopram. im on day 9 so far and no problems during the day but in the evening and night its a different story. i constantly feel on the cusp of having an attack or end up having one, getting over it but then cant get a wink of sleep and it just makes me feel awful. just need some advice on how to tackle this problem. is there something i can take at night that will help me drift off and that wont effect the citalopram? any advice would be much appreciated.

thanks

I hope you have been able to get some sleep the last few days, it really does nt help with recovery when you are nt getting your sleep!!!

i had exactly the same problem and was prescribed a strong antihistamine by the doctor to help me sleep. it had no effect on the citalopram and made me feel so much better and good a good 7 hours which was a dream conpared to the 2 hours a night i d been getting!

i cant actually remember the name, it began with a P but it really helped. i did nt feel drowsy on it during the day at all! x
