Why do pharmacies change their brand. Just picked up next prescription and the brand is different I am going to take them back and see if I can get my usual one. Has anyone else had this

I think they just buy whatever brand is the lowest price at the time.

When I fill prescriptions now, I specify the brand that I want. The pharmacy keeps this information on file so that I always get the same brand.

its whatever is cheapest at the time, you can ask them for a particular brand but they dont have to give you it, i can only use one brand as others im terrible with and i get on with the chemist so they go our of their way to get it for me, they even ordered it in from ireland for me once and im in england x

I don't think that is necessarily true that you can't get the brand that you want. At least in the U.S.

I imagine some pharmacies might not want to be bothered. This is the sort of thing that has helped me choose my pharmacy. If they ever tried to switch me, I would not take it.

I think once you pay for the medicine and take it out of the store you may not be able to return it tho.

Hi Lynne just to say that my local boots changed my medication to my normal brand and took the others back they were very helpful. They said to ask the doctors in the future to state the supplier on the script
