Citalopram Day 3 10mg

I have just started on 10mg Citalopram for anxiety, first two days had no appetite felt well space out, only felt nauseous on 1st day but not yesterday but this morning I woke up at around 4am with insane anxiety and palpitations, I have been waking up at 4am with anxiety for the last few months but usually it will subside quite quickly after I have got up.
At the minute the morning anxiety is still with me and I have been working since 7am. I am on the verge of tears, convinced myself I was dying. I know its the pills but the feelings are so intense. Is it normal for it to feel this intense at this point?
I have booked to see the GP this morning as I may need to consider going on sick or seeing it I can have a reduced workload. For context I have already been off work for 5 months and had started getting better and went back to work but then in August the Anxiety came back big time.

Yes, increased anxiety on meds is normal. Just give some time and it will get better, its just side effects

Thanks for the reply, I seemed to improve around quite a bit by 2pm (took my dose at 9am) Today seems to be better than yesterday, a lot of yawning!

thats the way recovery happens - better afternoons and still terrible anxious mornings but that will gradually improve.
Yawning and tiredness is a common side effect, it will go when body will adjust to meds.
Keep going .!

I'm just over 2 weeks on 10mg of Citalopram and I felt pretty zonked the first week. Yawning all the time with even more anxiety. I had no appetite either and it's difficult to know if its a side effect of medication or anxiety still causing havoc.
I started to feel better on week 2. I wouldn't say that I woke up one morning and it was a miracle cure but rather a gradual improvement. I feel loads better but I am still getting my usual pang when i first wake up. It generally goes once I start going about my day.
Hang in there. It will get better.

Thanks for your replies.
Today is day 6 feeling better, though at the moment that is a pretty low bar to clear! Palpitations have reduced today and was able to get back to sleep after waking at 4.30 and got up at 7.30. Morning anxiety still there but not as intense as it has been. Still lightheaded, appetite still low but I do need to drop some pounds!
I am aware the journey is a bit of a rollercoaster so could go backwards but thankful for any improvement.
