Hey

I have been suffering from depression for 5 years now , on and off.

Its become to much to bare over the last 6 months and has taken a a major toll on my day to day life , relationships, satisfaction , confidence, low self esteem, debilatating problems with communication ( forgetting most words when trying to speak) memory loss ( i find it extremely difficult to remember anything i read even after taking notes),

I have tried venlaflaxine and now citalorprm at 20 mgs.I dotn feel any differnce since taking them.hen i went to my doctors to explain this she said i could try something differnt but offered me no advice on a reasonable course of treatment. She read aloud a list of differnt anti depressants and said that she didnt know which one was best for me as they work differntly on everybody,I said i wanted something to specifically combat my memory loss and communication difficulties

again she had no answers!!!!

I am at a total loss to what to do!!!!! I am signed up with some CBT counselling which is taking place in a couple of weeks.

I am very dubious about this as i dotn feel that talking about it at lenght will help as i have a mental condition that i need treating by stimuliating my brain to retrive my memory and cognitive function but i sont know what medication to take!!! abd the doctors i am registered with seem to have no answers

I am trying my best to take care of myself in every other way from diet , to exersise but noting seems to be getting better because everytime i socialise i am reminded of my emptyness and despair inside my mind because i cannot connect to others because i cant acess my memory or make cohesive sentences.

Please help x

GPs are not "experts" in all areas of medicine ask to be referred to a psychiatrist or get a 2nd opinion from another doc.rolleyes

Try to ask for Trazadone...AT NIGHT...it is an antidepressent...but it knocks you out...can't take it during the day.

BUT, the biggest benefit I have noticed....is that I am different...more focused during the day...stopping

my hyperness....and able to follow and not LOSE my lists...

    Try it!

Hi Jenny, Your feelings mirror mine exactly and it could be me you are describing. I bet there are millions like us but it is a real drag feeling like this but normal considering our mental state. I have come off antids ath the moment but need to go back onto something else that will clear my mind of this persistent fog and help me get a good sleep. Mertazapine seems to be the next step. I hope we both find something that works permanently. Good luck and stay well
