Citalopram dose increase

Hi,

I was hoping anyone had some advice. I've struggled with anxiety for about 10 year, I eventually was put on venlafaxine 150mg and mirtazapine 15mg which worked for a long time until COVID, where I lost my job and relapsed badly. Since then its been 18 months of trialling different ssri's and I am consistently getting worse. The anxiety had led to me not being able to get out of the house, whenever I do I blank out, feel dizzy and disconnected from my body and forget how to do the most simple things.

I also get head tremors (my head shakes when making eye contact in social situations and haircuts etc). I was put on citalopram 20mg and has been increased to 30, its been 3 days and the anxiety is unbearable. I have read that citalopram has almost no difference in dose effectiveness above 20mg but don't know how true that is. I can't handle this anxiety much longer though.

(I have had years of trying CBT, my diet and nutrition is perfect, I exercise regularly. )

Hi Geoff sorry you are struggling.

Did your doc give you some calming pills while you increase the dose? can you not increase it in smaller increments? 5mg for a while then up to 10mg - it is what i am trying. Going ok ... i think.. its only been 5 days. but i do take ativan in between .
