Citalopram for 5 months, still not working

hi,

i started off on Citalopram last October 10mg, then upped to 20mg a couple of months later then up to 30mg nearly 2 months ago.

i take this for anxiety and panic attacks. i just feel like its not working and constantly thinking about my heart beating out my chest and almost had a panic attack last night until i stopped myself.

just feel like im going backwards as im also out of running at the moment with a knee injury which may make me feel worse.

should i go up to 40mg or give it more time as i thought by 5 months i should be back to normal by now or stick with it ?

im just so tired of it all, being in the middle of a pandemic probs doesnt help neither.

i think you're rushing to updose too much. increasing doesn't always bring on a quicker fix but instead, brings more side effects. i think you need to stick at your current dose for sometime - many folk on here suggest 5 to 6 months on the same dose before increasing.

i'm on 12.5mg for the last 5 months (increased from 5mg per day back in 2019) and i'm still not there but I am aware I am on a low dose. i'm trying to do daily exercise to help myself, too.
