Hi yes it does work but it doesnt happen over night u will probably feel worse before u feel better x it takes anything between 5 to 12 weeks depending on the individual

Thanks Michelle, only on day 4 having some side effects off and on not too bad, everything I’ve been told and read says the same that it will get pretty bad then clear up 🤞. Thanks for sharing support is much needed right now 🙂

Citalopram does work but you will need to give it at least a couple of months, the side affects may not be nice but stick with it. There is light at the end of the tunnel, I've got there. All the best.

Your anxiety may well worsen too just hang in there ok. I’m on week 9 and in 5 days on a plane to the canaries.... so a definite improvement. You have to ride this out. Hopefully someone is there with you at home?  I hope so! The folks in here are awesome, we support each other in here when the going gets tough and it does.... be strong and believe in the med, stay positive minded I know this in itself is a challenge at times but things DO improve..... 💪👍

Thank you so much Manny, I really appreciate your kind words, and support. That’s what I needed to hear that this too shall pass and I can be alive again 👍👍. Iam absolutely amazed at the support on here 😊

Yes its a good place to be bro! Nice to “see” you to even if you are sideways lol :-).  I frequented this forum every day for weeks, it helped me a lot! So wherever I can give my experience/advice I do.... try to keep your mind busy on current things, watching movies Netflix going for local walks that kind of stuff. Try not to think to hard. Anxiety has a tendency to spiral your thoughts negatively. Don’t let it beat you. 💪

The meds do work!! But like everyone else has said prior they do take time and each individual responds differently. The initial adjustment can make your symptoms worse, but just remember that it is just your body and mind trying to adjust to the levels in your body and will make improvement. Remember that more than likely you will not just wake up and be back at 100% but try not to strive for such large goals and take pride in and find peace in the small step you are making. One thing that helped me was to start a journal, in the beginning it was definitely filled with negative thoughts and despair, but I tried to also find at least one small improvement or success from each day to write about and focus on also. I'm now almost 5 weeks in and I definitely do not feel totally "normal" but whenni look back through the journal I can see all the improvement I have made and know things are getting better.

Hey Bayside, I do the same as Matthew with a journal in my phone. This way I have it with me and can look when I’m not feeling well. I’m on Day 44 and it’s a roller coaster ride but I do see an improvement. I used to have severe panic attacks which freaked me out. I was hospitalized 2x for them. Keep up with the meds and do meditation. Force yourself to walk each day at least 5-10 min. It helps for the anxiety. And hydrate with H20. Keep us posted how you are doing. 👍🏼😎

Hi, I’m 20 days in on this rollercoaster! 1 week on 10mg and now 20mg. I’ve had every side effect going, but can honestly say the anxiety is easing a bit last few days. I was ready to give up but so glad I have got over the worst 2 weeks, only way is up now. You got this. We all have ???? Take care and remember if u do have side effects, that’s all it is and will eventually pass smile

I’ve just upped my dose to 20 mg after having a year off from citalopram. My anxiety did come back but I’m hoping it can’t help me again like it did last time, I just wish I’d never stopped taking it in the first place. I’m having really bad side effects and I’m only four days in so I’m taking diazepam for five days to try and relieve the effects but once it kicks in I’m hoping I’ll  be back to where I was.

Thank goodness you have your diazapam for those yucky start up effects of celexa...take care..you will get there again..

Thank you I really do hope I can get through this I’m just worried about how I’ll feel when the diazepam runs out.

Split your diazapam..and perhaps reach out to a phychiatrist .they will prescribed diazapam..if need more

Went for a cit represcription yesterday. My doc would not represcribe me diazepam as I said I still had 5 pills left. 2mg wants me not to take them. I’d like them to feel what a panic attack or severe anxiety is like before making these limitations.  Hang in there Gemma. We’re all here for ya going along the tough journey with ya !  Manny x

Thank goodness I was approved for xanex ....for ever...other wise is hard to deal with all the meds bring on..plus all the natural things that happens in life...

In the uk Benzos are not freely prescribed due to their abusive qualities.... I’m sensible but I guess those who abuse them ruin it for the rest of us who genuinely need them.

In the USA is the same..the GP.wont touch schedule 2medications...they leave it up.to the professionals..so the phychiatrist is the only one that can prescribe those..or the neurologist.

Thank you, I'm finding it tough today going through waves of panic. I'm trying not to be afraid in the hope that they'll stop but it isn't easy.

      Gemma,

The first couple weeks can be really tough but things will level out in time. Try to stay positive and remember you have been on these once before and they worked so they will work again.

You just hang in there Gemma  🙂 I’m week 10 now and you can get there too ! Xx

Diazepam is a schedule 4 drug. Not quite up there with the likes of methadone etc but still I get what your saying👍  Some gps I’ve seen have been clueless tbh I can see it in their face.  One of my docs is brilliant and understands psychiatric drugs but she was not there that day....😐
