Citalopram - going crazy. Help!

Posted , 2 users are following.

I'm on day 2 (nearly 3) of taking 10mg Citalopram for panic disorder and GAD.

I tried Sertraline but for me, it was hell on earth. It's taken me a year to try something else. I've been having CBT awhile and it did help a bit, but not enough, so the doctor suggested I try citalopram as both my mum and sister had success with it. ehen starting these, my anxiety was very low but I know I'll dip badly again.

Day 1, super mild side effects, only being the odd surge of panic that would pass and hot flushes. I slept ok. Woke up fine on day 2, took tablet at 9.15am. No major side effects. However, at lunch time I had a panic attack during therspy . It was the easiest panic attack I've ever had, in the fact it wasn't as in tense as normal and it passed quickly and I felt shaken but ok.

Then suddenly early evening I felt quite anxious, it got lots worse and I've become restless, hot, prickling skin and this intense fear I'll go mad on the drug (Going mad and taking any drug is my main anxiety triggers). I dropped off quickly but woken up after an hour, I'm so scared I'm going go go crazy. Anxiety is hell at the moment, is this normal?

I'm so glad to hear this! (not that you had to go through it as it sucks!) just to know it's normal and doesn't mean it won't work.

Can't wait for the side effects to go and it to kick in. 😃
