CITALOPRAM HUNGER ANOREXIA BULIMIA HELP

Hi there,

I am new here but I really need advice.

I have been prescribed 10mg Citalopram and I have been taking them now for 3 weeks.

I am really worried about the side effects of hunger. I have severe Bulimia and Body Dysmorphic Disorder, struggled with Anorexia Bulimia in the past, and I am so so worried about weight gain. My appetite has increased significantly, although I am not eating more than a usual persons diet (I am used to eating less of course). But I would like to know if anyone has had increased hunger as an early side effect and then it has settled down as the medication has started to work properly?

I am a healthy weight despite the food issues and I am soon to receive treatment for the Eating Disorder, but I really cannot put on weight because it will effect my mental state negatively.

PLEASE HELP!

hi I'm really sorry to hear about that bless you. a side effect is increased appetite and that's also a sign of feeling a little better too. the increased hunger will pass and you will get your normal appetite again. some people don't but as long as you eat what you normally do and drink plenty of water as that sometimes helps hunger. you'll be ok.

make sure that if you feel like you are eating more than normal make sure you exercise and eat healthy as like you said you don't want it to cause you more problems.

I never put any extra weight on even with an increased appetite on citalopram x I've always stayed pretty much the same weight x
