Citalopram - My Experience

Hello!

Long-time reader, first-time poster here.

I have always had a degree of anxiety, but with zero physical symptoms. My anxiety seems to revolve around being incredibly self-conscious, worrying that others do not like me and undervaluing relationships with others. The anxiety does not affect my life day-to-day, apart from how I feel inside.

Last week I had an appointment with my GP who suggested Citalopram while I am waiting for CBT - 10MG for the first week, then 20MG thereafter. I am on day six.

So far, I feel amazing...which comes as a surprise as the GP said it could take a few months. The GP also says whatever is going on is very mild and that Citalopram will help with my thoughts while I am waiting for CBT.

Thank you for reading.

    Hello Granada,

Encouraging post. Great to hear that Cit. is helping you and so quickly as well. Understand that Cit. generally takes 4-6 weeks before any benefits are noticeable.

I'm a long follower on here too but don't generally partake so to speak.

I'd consider myself hugely anxious (often more anxious than depressed however currently suffering from both). Not long since started Cit. on 20mg and not noticing improvements as such where low mood, level of self esteem and self worth are concerned however am hopeful that the anti-depressants will help with all of these.

    Good luck with your CBT.

Thank you for your kind words.

I must admit I am slightly concerned that I am feeling so much better so quickly.
