Citalopram not working after several years

Hi, I've been on citalopram 10mg for several years but my anxiety has been back for two months now and citalopram seems to be no longer effective. I have new anxiety brought on by family bereavement and stress. Can anyone advise on what is the best med to take before I see my GP please? I tried doubling the dose, on GP's advice but it didn't work. Has anyone had to change this med for a better one? I would be grateful for any advice.

    Remember it takes time time for the double dose to kick in, try to keep us informed a lot of advice from here, l have been there before had to double to 40mg now l am ever so happy no anxiety or sadness anymore.

      Hi Richard, thanks for replying, I didn't think it would take long to have an effect, maybe I didn't try double dose for long enough in that case

      I will see GP and keep posting. Cheers!

    The exact same thing happened to me and I've changed to paxil and feel much better
