hi everyone.

i was taking citalopram 20mg -30mg for about two years and was doing great. before that i was also on lexapro which also was good but stupid me kept wanting to come off the medicine.

anyway, i weened off citalopram 30mg properly and was off for maybe like a month or two, but then was going thru a lot of stress and anxiety and depression came right back. my biggest thing is i completely lose my appetite and thats usually how i can tell if a med is starting to work because my appetite will come back.. anyway i am back on citalopram now been 8 weeks total. basically the whole time at 20mg and then 30mg for one week. my appetite is completely none existent, still depressed with anxiety. whats weird is that after a few weeks on 20mg i forced myself back to work and my appetite was coming back for the most part, i didnt feel 100% but i was functioning and then shorty after appetite dissapeared again and almost like im worse than when i started. advice please!!!

hi rachel, oh dear i feel bad for you that your medication didn"t work more importantly did anyone ever help you to discover why you are depressed in the 1st place. THAT is much more important! doctors think pills will solve depression, unless you know WHY you are depressed then you"ll never heal. i am not being rude just honest. dig deeper ask for some proper mental health talking therapy or cbt? if you do this your depression may improve quicker! good luck, not easy but possible to get more help with!
