Citalopram side effects.

Hi,

I have been taking 20mg of Citalopram for a month now, and I am still experiencing side effects.

Can't stop going to the loo, both urinating and the other one. I am loosing weight rapidly. Does this wear off? I am eating like a horse but still loosing weight. I have anxiety as well as depression.

Also sweating and very dry eyes. I seem to have floaters all the time. Not feeling any benefits yet, just feeling generally rubbish.

I have been on Citalopram a couple of years ago and can't remember the side effects lasting this long.

Thanks

Sophie ☺ xx

Hi, mine lasted 6 weeks on 10mg but I'm still going to the loo a lot, thought it was anxiety! I'm going to increase soon so I'm worried about that the side effects are horrible especially the nausea x

After ten days taking Cita the side effects have practically disappeared ... I have lost 3 pounds in 2 days... The side effects I experienced were cruel, when I woke up every morning I had terrible nausea... I ate some fresh ginger and that unpleasant feeling disappeared.  I have also taken hot and cold showers. I used some essential oil, Lavender.  In the evening I put my feet in steaming hot towels and then massage them with lavender

lotion.  I also did some deep breezing to quiet my mind.  It did not help me to fall asleep (for a few days I slept no more than an hour) but I felt less

anxious. I have been drinking a lot of camomile and mint (caffeine free).

    Hi Sophie

I started taking citalopram 20mg about 8 months ago (currently coming off them) and the initial side effects were not pleasant but they do stop.

For me i didnt really feel any benefit untill 2 months in and had all the side effects your are describing.

You just kinda keep taking it and think to yourself 'its ok the side effects will stop and i will feel better soon' and then that exactly what happens.

The side affects taper off and you feel better without even noticing it smile

Just stick with it and try not to focus your mind so much on when it will work

    Hope that helps
