Citalopram withdrawal

I have Crohn's disease, and for the past 4 years I have been on citalopram, slowly upping the dose until I reached the max dose of 40mg. This year I switched from pediatric care to adult care at the hospital I go to, and am in the process of setting up a primary care doctor, whose appointment I have with on Thursday December 10th. Last week (Wednesday, to be specific) I ran out of my dosage and refills, and went cold turkey until December 5th when I was able to get an emergency supply.

I've been struggling severely these past few days, with nausea, tingly fingers, racing heartbeat, a crushing tightness in my chest, and this horrible sense of dread pressing down on me. I did at first feel like someone kept prodding at my heart constantly, and it's eased some but the feeling comes and goes. Today I had a couple "glimpses" of recovery, then it got bad again.

How long will it take before these symptoms subside enough that I can enjoy life again? Will I feel relief soon considering that I was only off it for about 5 days or so and went right back on the 40mg dose? I've seen other people's posts about detoxing completely from citalopram and how it took them months to recover, but I'm not trying to get off the medicine, rather keep on it indefinitely.
