Citalopram Withdrawal - How long does it take to end???

Hi, I was on Citalopram for 3 months and my doctor and I decided it was simply not working for me, and i had also found the cause for my worries through talk therapy. I took my last pill of citalopram 18 days ago after tapering down from 20mg over two weeks (i am now aware that this is pretty fast, but this is what my doctor suggested!!). After 7 days off the medication i started to feel very dizzy, disorientated and confused. A few days later this then turned into anxiety, agitation and irritability which has now turned into fatigue, acheyness and still more agitation. When does it end????? I am unable to work and am simply lying about all day as i have no motivation and no energy. I feel this is not a relapse in anxiety because it feels very different to my initial anxiety, and it also came on exactly 7 days after my last dose. It has been 11 days of symptoms now, when will it ease up???

Hi Ollykon
You've come off too fast. If I were you I'd reintroduce a low dose to see if that relieves your symptoms, say 5mgs.. Start low and you can always increase slightly if you need to until you stabilise. Once stabilised you should then reduce ever so slowly if your intention is to come off. A 10% reduction of your current dose woud be good until you stabilise on that dose then a further 10% reduction and so on. It could be several weeks or more before each drop in dosage.
