hi, i have been taking citalopram for 7 weeks now, 3 weeks on 10mg and then a further 4 weeks on 20mg. i take it for my anxiety. my anxiety has increased a lot during this period which is quite distressing, but last week i had a period of 4 days where i felt like myself again, happy and motivated to do everything i would usually do. but then i tumbled back to feeling terribly anxious in the last few days and am scared i am back to sqaure one. is this normal? when will the anxiety subside?

    hi Olly,

I've been on 20mg for just over 9weeks now, it does give you a few days where you feel normal then you go off again, it does get better i promise, they can take up to 3months to be in full effect. please bare with it, it will start to get better, your still very early days as well as me.

    keep strong x

      Hi Jade,

thanks, how are you at 9 weeks? yeh its just frustrating to have a good few days and then go right back down again. Is it a case that these good days will just become more frequent or will all of my days soon level off?

I feel a lot better, alot calmer and alot more controllable. I have just switched my tablet from night time to day time though so i feel a little off set at the moment 😦

Your good days will get alot more frequent, and it will level off, i still have off days, everyone does, it's normal, but they will be alot less and alot more bearable. Bearing in mind i take my Citalopram for Anixety and Depression too, so i can say it gets alot easier and alot better, it's just a matter of battling through. I will admit it is not easy, and it feels like a horrible vicious circle, but give it a few more days and you will see a difference 😃
