Citalopram, zolpidem and diazepam!!

Hi all,

I am so grateful to have found this forum. I have been in an extremely stressful job where I have been unhappy for years and then my sister got seriously ill in may. Since then I have not slept and have been treated unsucessfully. Got signed off work at end of June with stress and exhaustion and all the sleeping tablets I have taken havent worked:

2 weeks of zoplicone 3.5, then 2 weeks of zoplicone 7.5 (just few hours sleep), then finally they put me on anti anxiety citalopram and have been three weeks in now and upped to 40mg and only just told to take it in the morning.

I still am not sleeping, having then tried temazepam for a few nights and zolpidem for first time last night. Doctor has just told me he will give me diazepam 5mg to take few hours before bed and then take the zolpidem 10mg half an hour before sleep. This with the citalopram hopefully kicking soon, I hope will work.

The internet scares me with all the addiction stories but I have such a sleep deficit and am doing all the other good stuff like exercise and meditation.

Does anyone have any positive experiences of this medication or overcoming insomnia at stressful times? If so, please share !!!!

hi all i started out on zopiclone a few months ago when i went to the doctors because id not slept in six days.

ive suffered from anxiety for about a year now and just recently started the citalopram which have worked wonders 4 me im takin the 20 mg at the moment and they work if u give them the time.

ive just stopped the zopiclone as my doctor said if i kept taking them i will get to addicted to them so im havin a hard time sleeping at the moment but hopefully things will get better and i will rid ov my deppression anxiety 4 gud.

I always thought i was the only 1 with these kind ov problems and that i was goin crazy but since i found this site and realised there were lots ov other people goin through the same things makes me feel not alone anymore,

    get well soon everybody.

Hi Winker and anon Guest, I'm 61 ys old male, I'm on my 7th night tonight of going \"cold turkey\" from 20 - 30 mgms of Zolpidem (Stilnoct) every night recently, although I've been on them for the best part of 3 years, in conjunction with Amitriptyline.I'm experiencing several of the withdrawal symptoms listed here

I'm mainly sleeping at odd times, feeling totally knackered, lethargic, achy, shaky. Once I've been to sleep, I don't want to wake or get up, and it's a case of willpower over how I feel. There is no way I'm taking another Zolpidem in my life
