CKD help

Hi all, I have been having migraine headaches and tired all the time and no energy. I have fybromyalgia and Hypothyroidism so doctors sent me for another blood test with my thyroid level normal. However the last blood test had 2 weeks ago found something in my blood test and said it's to do with my.kidneys and efgr rate. Then said they want me to do another blood test and urine test in 4 weeks time, only 2 weeks to go now, but I've been worried. What would my efgr rate be if doctors want me to do another blood test in only 4 weeks. Hopefully it will help me put my.mind at ease in 2 weeks.  I have bad back pain and been going toilet more than normal at night. But I had a spinal operation 10 years ago and have been thinking it never worked because of the pain I've been getting. But does this mean I have Ckd and why another blood test in only 4 weeks. Can someone help me understand more.

    Hi,

Try not to worry your GFR rate is how your kidneys function waste out of you, they do a blood test to see what the gfr rate is and that gives you a %.  To get things in perspective for a person to be considered normal the would have a grf of 60% or over mine is 9% and I am still here - just!.  You could have CKD put it has 5 stages and you don't usually have any simptoms until about stage 4, you could have a slightly reduced kidney function but have it for years with no change or no effect on your health so don't panic until you know the facts.  They will do another blood test to see if your gfr has changed or stayed the same or increased and then advise you from there.  I have end stage renal failure now but have had kidney issues for ever so I am doing quite well.  It is a bit of a shock when you are told and no there are no magic cures to help boost your gfr if there was there would be no renal failure.  You have to be careful about the so called baking powder gig as it is high in phosphate and this is bad for kidney patients. If you are diagnosed with anything come back and let us know, there will be someone who can advise on here they are a lovely lot

Hi Helen thank you so much for replying. I'm sorry to hear your story. I'm going Friday week for another blood test and urine test, have really bad tiredness and energy is zero, I have 3/4 bad migraine type headaches a week and generally feel terrible, I get the nausea but not sick and have back pain. But I have fybromyalgia and Hypothyroidism and have had spinal surgery. My back op was 10 years ago and been bad recently and I put it down to my back but it could be kidney pain when I think about it. My gp said my thyroid level is normal and that's why hasn't me for another blood test which came back with something to do with my kidneys and edfr rate they said but give nothing else away and only said about the blood test nd urine test in 4 weeks. I was worried but after hearing from you has put my mind at ease a lot thank you. I willletyou know what they say after next bloods and urine test. Thank you again and good luck to you also.

    Hi Wayne,

No problem at at and don't be sorry for me I have a lovely husband and two lovely kids and i'm not going anywhere yet I have too much to do.  I get migraines I don't know if its kidney related but I have had them for that long I regognise the signs so act.  I get a numb face, then arm then the flashing lights in front of the eyes then im sick, so I have learnt when I get a numb face take the pain meds and it goes no further.  On one occasion an episode came on I was driving up windy country lanes in the snow I had pain meds but nothing to drink except some really dodgy looking cola anyway it had to go down the hatch as it was the only thing there to drink - tasty not! LOL. You may have these due to something pressing on nerves I note you have had spine surgery.  Keep us updated and keep your chin up!
