CKD stage 3 and aneamia

For the past 30 months I have been yo going with my gfr. When first diagnosed I was 26. A quick visit to hospital and found out that it was my use off diclofenac that had caused the problem. Once I stopped them my GFR increased to 48 by Christmas. I have just been to for my regular blood tests and have had to go for more as my doctor now thinks I am anaemic and that my GDR had dropped to 44. Does anyone know if this will make my CKD worse

Not saying they are interchangable, but both have a pain suppressant....diclofenac and fentanyl. I was on dic, but when I got ckd4 the physician chopped over to fentanyl transdermal patches. Theres a possibikitg he changed mine due to gfr but it was never "stated". Sorry its not a cleR answer, but maybe give you an idea. Dont forget to hear whatever you want to try....FROM YOU GP....we're just parients sharing our experiences.

Good luck getting a suitable combination. Do you use Rebegel in the mix at all?

    Hi Panda,

read your post. My husband is a CKD patient and what I have gathered from the doctor is that eGFR value is very important. It shows how the kidneys are functioning. My husband value was 41 in April and it dropped to 36 in Sept.  our nephrologist mentioned that there has been a drop in kidney function and he being diabetic, eGFR falls faster. I hope your eGFR goes up . you can talk to your doctor about it. Has he given you any iron supplement?

    Hi,

If you are asking if being anaemic will make your CKD worse, then my understaning is not.  Anaemia is something that goes hand in hand with CKD im affraid.  As your kidney function drops (yours may not you could stay at stage 3 and never get any worse) anaemia is something you will get experience.  Your GP can give you iron tablets which should sort you out.  I'm end stage 5 and my iron dropped really low, I had iron tablets and I got on ok with them, however they did nothing for my iron levels and after 3 months I have an iron infusion that was 6 months ago and I have managed to hold on to it all.  I have also been told that once your GFR drops its not likely to rise again so you have been really lucky.  Good luck with everything I hope you get sorted out
