Ckd stage 3b Gfr 42, scared for my future!!

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi I am new to this page, I am 37 with Stage 3b CKD, Gfr 42, hypothyroidism, and pcos. After myself having sepsis after my second child, it has brought my ckd up a stage. He is 1 year old now, and my Gfr remains the same. I have major health anxiety issues, as I also lost my mum to sepsis, April of this year. I am aware this does not get better, but want to live as long as possible, as I have a 1 and 5 year old son. I don't give in, I work, and am pursuing a full-time degree. Am just so worried about my future health, that it is crippling me emotionally and mentally, although not everyone sees this. I see a kidney specialist every 6months, but feel I'm just left to get on with it. It would be good to speak to like minded people, who understand this condition. Thank you in advance. Xxx

    Hi Allea2181

Your stage 3b category fought stay stable for years.  I think, because your doctors see you at 6 monthly intervals is indicative of that.  Not everyone with CKD will progress to end stage nor are you being ignored.

Sepsis, caught early, is entirely curable with the right antibiotics. It’s always unfortunate if that disease gets in the way or causes an unnecessary death.

To counter your anxiety have you thought of joining. Your local CKD organisation. They can help you manage your anxiety and offer advice on other related issues.

Thank you for your reply, I feel that may be a positive step in the right direction, to join a ckd organisation, I will have a look in the local area. I do try to stay positive, as my family is everything to me. Just speaking to people may be the way forward. Thanks again. Xx

    Hi allea2181

Egfr can stay stable for years, especially ckd3a/b. The good thing is it hasnt changed within 1 yr, thats why you are being monitored which is also a good thing. Severe infection is well known to knock the kidney function out and so to is stress!

So you need to make sure you have a healthy diet and get adequate rest periods.

Try not to worry this will make you more miserable a big vicious circle x x

Thank you for your reply Jane, I will try my best not to stress. I guess it is just the uncertainty of it all. Does cutting down on protein and fats help, regarding the healthy diet? Xx

      Hi allea2181

So a healthy diet... I go by everything in moderation! Good portions of everything healthy i.e veg lean meats etc and not too much of the sugar and starch i.e cakes sweets white bread.

      Dont add more stress ...

      Jane ☺

Hi allea2181, I understand your worries! I too am a mother to a 6 year old and a 12 week old, I recently found out I have CKD stage 3 after my youngest being born. Unbeknown to me, I've had a decreased GFR for several years, if not longer and it hasn't increased or decreased! I think the best way to think of it, is you have a fairly good function right now which, hopefully isn't affecting your day to day life, less than 1% of people with kidney disease go on to have transplants and if you are part of the unlucky 1% there are options and people live perfect lives after having kidney transplants. I am 25 and my doctor has told me I'm her youngest patient with kidney disease! (Knew id win at something in life ha!)  so to be told this news really scared me but we have youth on our side and if you keep fit and healthy, it helps tremendously! Live life to the full and just remember, there is always someone more worse off than you that would love to be in your position. I hope I have provided some comfort and this is a great forum to follow :-)
