vivity clareon will be in US this month. i dont know how it compares to acrysof except it should have lower incidence of glistenings.

I think if the contrast had improved Alcon would be saying so. I assume the contrast is the same. The new material simply won't potentially LOSE any contrast over the decades as it's more robust (no glistenings)

My doctor has recommemded the Vivity lenses to me. I live in Spain, and there is only available the Vivity Acrisof. I have read several papers about glistenings in the Acrysof material and I am quite concerned about it. It seems that they are more frequent with changes in temperature, or high temperatures, as where I live. Does somebody have some experience with this?

I have an AcrySof IQ lens in my right eye for over two years now. I have a Clareon in my left eye for a couple of months. I don't see any glistenings in the AcrySof lens, and I never expect to see them. I believe this a manufacturing problem that Alcon has solved. The competitors of Alcon love to use it to dis the product though. Have a read of this article which does a good job of documenting how Alcon has overcome this glistenings issue, which was significant years ago. My understanding of the issue is that voids are left in the plastic material which fill with fluid over time. The cure is to make the lens without voids. I don't think it has anything to do with temperature, . Your body controls the temperature of the lens within a very narrow constant range despite what the temperature outside may be. If your body does not control temperature you have a lot more serious problems than glistenings!
