Classic prostatitis or something else?

Hi all,

I'll try and keep it brief and to the point. Im 34 years old and was diagnosed with prostatitis about 2 and a half months ago, but don't have what I would call the classic symptoms (or are they?). Very little pain in the prostate area, the occasional twinge here and there is the most I can say I've experienced, maybe once or twice a day. No burning when urinating, or at least very little. Just recently I do feel like I'm sitting on a golf ball. Urine tested and no infection or discharge. Tried 3 weeks of Cypro which did nothing. My main symptom and most debilitating is the urge to pee all the time which is worse on some days than others, a constant feeling that my bladder is full which returns about 45 mins after urinating. Doctor tried me on Oxybutynin 3 weeks ago which hasn't really helped apart from giving me some horrible side effects and the inability to get a stream going when I pee, so I stopped that 2 days ago. Before taking the Oxy I did get periods where my flow was less strong anyway, but also some days when it was absolutely fine which is weird.

I had this before a couple of years ago and it cleared up after 4ish months, I was seeing a urologist for a while who wasn't all that sympathetic. He had me on solefenacin (bladder relaxant) which didn't help that much. It seems to me that my condition is made worse by heavy physical activity, especially anything involving my legs. This time round my symptoms started around the same time that I did a leg session at the gym (but may have been a coincidence). Also any kind of sexual activity/masturbation makes it worse and the urge to pee is a lot stronger a few hours after this. I do suffer from anxiety and have a stressful job, and feel that I'm quite tense a lot of the time which could also contribute. I've stopped gyming because of this which has also contributed to me feeling down.

So my question is is my prostatitis being caused by something muscular? Everything I've read about prostatitis says that exercise and sexual activity can help, which baffles me. Any incite into this would be greatly appreciated, even talking to other guys in the same situation, I feel this is taking a toll on my mental health tbh.

Thanks guys!

First of all you need to relax because stress is a b with a witch. All men can have different symptoms. You need to relax. Most of the time if you feel sitting on a ball can mean that you have a infection but it can just be inflammation. When you come home and be fore you go to sleep take a home bath for about 20 minute this will help the groin area.

It depends on what type of prostatitis you have. One of them sex is good to clean out the prostate and the other on you need to stop sex.

Find out from your doctor which type you have. Good luckken

Thanks for your reply Ken. I do try and relax, but for somebody with health anxiety and anxiety in general that's easier said than done haha. I have tried taking sitz baths when I had it the first time, but didn't persevere with them so maybe I need to 😃

The doctors haven't been very helpful and they haven't said which type I've got but I will keep on at them.
