Cleaning ears question

Hi

Me and my wife have always used Q-tips to clean our ears. We recently heard and watched 2 videos from Dr. Oz on how to clean them with Hydrogen Peroxide.

We did just like the videos and once done, no wax on the cotton swab for either of us. The videos show wax on patients.

When we use Q-tips, there is wax on them.

What are we doing wrong?

Please stop this practice. There is no need to regularly clean your ears with QTips and certainly not with Hydrogen peroxide. You may start to impact any wax you have. You can introduce infections into your ears and hydrogen peroxide can start irritation. Ears are self cleaning. If you have a wax build up drop olive oil into the ear and let it soften and move the wax gently.

Dr Oz is a TV personality intent on making money and a supposed cardiothoracic surgeon. He is not an authority on ears.
