Keep the area clean with mild soap and water. Application of petroleum jelly can aid in healing. Wear loose clothing to avoid extra pain from clothing rubbing against the rash.

also my dr gave me the immunization for Zoster virus immediately after diagnosis. I have had fewer and little breakouts in 6 years.

    Hi,

Sad to hear about your Shingles.

Clean with mild soap and water. I found that application of Emu oil helped- can dying initially, but helped in healing and reducing scars. Also, calamine lotion is good for temporary relief.

    Get well soon!

The usual way, showers or baths etc. I never use soap on my face anyway, just cleansers, My rash was on my head  too, and it was so tender, so I just bought a shampoo with no fragrance, for sensitive skin.

Hi there!!! I got a disposable (plastic) bowl and filled it with about 6 cups of water then add 20 drops of each of the following oils....Lavender, Tea Tree, Lemon & Chamomile make sure to mix before using EACH TIME because the pills will not mix with water! I use the thick paper towels to apply the liquid and I NEVER put the used towel back into the mixture!!! I can place a lid on the mix and use it for the entire time I have shingles!!! I found this to be EXTREMELY soothing and well as a great anesthetic and a natural calming for your skin. (This mix is good for any skin irritation!) To cover myself I will add that this is based on my personal experience and I am not a physician and you should always consult with your physician for all healtcare needs!!😉 I do hope you find this helpful!

I have been using ivory soap (white bar) with cool water. Ive been really nervous about putting anything else on the rash while it's trying to heal.

I understand that!!! This is my 4th time with shingles and I know how irritating they can be. Just thought I would pass it along since you asked.
