Clicking hip after 8 weeks.

Hi all. Sorry I've been a bit quiet, thought I was well on the mend. Has anyone else experienced pain in their knees after THR. Also today I've started getting quite severe clicking in my hip... Someone please tell me this is normal. Matt

Hi Matt I would get right back to the ER and get it checked out, perhaps it has come loose in some way or other, I would get there right away, incase anything has gone wrong in your sleep, or screws come loose, but get it seen to asap...keep in touch Ian.

    Hi Matt

I get pain in my knees.. Post op, I put this down to referred pain as I try and retrain myself to walk properly having limped for a couple of years prior to my LTHR.  As for clicking.... If in doubt get it checked out!

MAtt, I would definitely get my hip checked out just to be sure. As for the knee pain, I have it at the top of my patella on the surgery side when I use the muscles too much. Please keep us updated on how you are doing.

    Hi

I have a ceramic hip and around 2 to 3 weeks got clicking but my physio said on as hip settling in and muscles working was normal. It went around 4 to 5 weeks. Mine was just slight clucking so check it out. Occasionally now at 12 weeks I get odd click but not so often

    Hi Matt,

welcome back - I also had pain in (both) knees post op but now more in the soon-to-be-operated on other side ..

I thinlk it is normal - For me I know that my gait is so off (still) due to walking crooked for a long time ..

As for the clicking, I don't know ... as advised: if you are worried about it, have it checked ...

    How are you doing otherwise???

No news = good news eh?

    warm hug

    Hi Matt,

As for the knees, same here, more so when getting tired and walking wrong. Reason I think may be attributing to it is that my legs are slightly different length for now. Once the other is done, it should be better after a while.

The clicking... Go have it checked out. Soon.

Clicking can happen, but not constantly, that's not okay...

Had knee pain due to the manipulation of the leg when dislocating it during the op which put a strain on the knee.

    Don't know about the clicking.

I am 8-weeks post-op and am still using a walker (trolley) because of hip pain and limp (Trendelenbetg gait).  I have found that stretching is my best friend, in particular laying on my stomach and hooking a belt around my fut to pull it towards my bum. This stretches my hamstring and it's connection under my knees. Also the bike helps keep me flexible. Due to the pain and gait issues, I was advised to take my recovery really slow and limit weight on my leg as the inner muscles heal. I was one of the people who did too much/too soon and injured my inner muscles. Best wishes!
