Clicking in hip after THR

Posted , 6 users are following.

Hi I had a THR two weeks ago and everything is fine except for a random click in my hip. It happens on and off and there's no pattern. There's no pain. Has anyone experienced this too?

hi Teresa, quite normal, it takes months for your new hip to adjust to all your body movements, just rest and not do anything stupid like walk too far, remember...you have had major surgery and every muscle, tendons and bone have been pulled , stretched and cut, slowly exercise, keep your leg elevated and don't try cutting corners on what your surgeon has already told you, you will be fine but be prepared for some pain.

    good luck.

I would suggest that it indicates that your muscles have a lot of repairing and strengthening still to do and that you need to be careful to not put yourself in a potential dislocation situation! TAKE CARE! Cheers, Richard

    hi

i still get clicking at times after 2 years post op i find it is usually after just doing to much i long hike or a lot of yard work etc no pain just clicks

i suspect after 2 weeks it is reminding you to rest and take it slower it is amazing the parts the have been cut and or damaged to get your new hip in place

I have 85% of my strength back on right side compared to left now and was told that is normal and i am very active

good luck and listen to your body

if click comes with pain get to a dr

i would recommend if no pain, rest and for your exercises slow and steady for recovery

i am curious, is the clicking you all get an audible click or just something you feel in your hip?

Hi. No sound just something I feel. I have a ceramic on ceramic which can squeak but mine doesn't so far.
