Second, take a breath.  You are not in pain so this is a very good sign.  I am only at 5 weeks so cannot answer however, I did a little digging........

Go to PAGE 3 of this forum then look for about the 16th post named "Hello Question about THR"

This person seems to have posted the same issue and there are 5 replies.

    dear jocelyne,

This can happen sometimes from a tendon, called the psoas tendon, rubbing against the new hip. With exercise and time, this feeling will disappear.

Usually this popping/clicking sensation occurs while the hip is healing, and during turning the leg side to side.

You just had major invasive surgery where muscles, tendons, bone etc. were cut, joint forcefully dislocated and protheses banged in ...

your body is healing, darling and around 6-8 weeks you are probably doing so much more already ...

I understand that the clicking/snapping sound coming from your hip is a concern for you but you don't experience any pain .... that is good !!!

Turning 61 is depressing by it self (I know I was!!) and just having had this surgery is definitely not helping ... but you will be fine !!

Happy birthday ... know that all is well and please come here any time you have a question, concern or just want to share ...

    big warm birthday hug

    renee

Thank u so much, I just came back from ER, they took an X-ray and all looks good, they told me the same as u did! It's still healing need more time. I hope it goes away soon. Doing lots of physio! The one excersise that really freaked me out today, was going stepping on a stair step and letting my operated leg hang down and bringing it back up with, waist movement back up, which was given to me as part of my physio therapist! I could feel my prothésiste moving down an coming back up. It scared me so much! It felt as if my prothésiste was going to come out! Gonna ask my therapist if I should be doing it again??? This is the worst b-day ever. Never gonna forget 61. I also had to take my hubby to emergency today, he has hep c! Never did drugs in his life! Worst day of my life! Thank u for ur , great support! Xo

Hi, I'm 7 months post op and get clicking now and again, mainly when I'm pushing the hip ie. Putting it in new positions. I asked my physio who said it was instability but that doesn't mean it's going to dislocate !! The noises should get less as your hip gets stronger. 👣

      Dear Lisa

It is good to note things that soon wrong but in this case I feel sure that all is fine and as your muscles regain their strength the clicking will disappear.

      Cheers Richard

    Jocelyne:

I had LTHR on November 14, 2016. May 14 is 5 months and I still feel clicking. It is lessening and I hardly notice it anymore. It is part of the healing process as the new joint becomes permanent in its palcement. I was told up to 6 months for this portion of healing to take place.

It is a normal timeline of events for THR healing process. Continue to be diligent with PT exercises. It will go away with time.

    Take care

Thank u so much' for ur reply. I just need to be patient. It is a hard thing to go through' I'm glad I'm not the only one with this issue. I'm always worried when it clicks, lots of physio still to do. I always find that after I excersise new pain occurs. I guess it's a matter of time. It's only been 7 and Hal weeks. I got a long way to go. U made me feel a lot better no one tells u about the clicking. Now I know. Gonna worry a bit less! Thanks again. Xo
