Clicking sound in my hip

Ok. I'm 47 year old male. For about 2 last years I have noticed that whenever I do "side leg raise" exercise I feel (and even hear some times) a click in my hip joint. It's not painful in any way. But, you know, I don't remember ever having that. All I want to know is: should I be worried? Not overweight, try to work out at least 2 times a week. Thank you.

I'm not a professional diagnostician. My experience (I had right hip replaced last week after 6 years of degeneration from first noticing issue) is that my hip "gave way" or buckled while I was running. Which was a sign of lack of cartilege in the joint (or osteo arthritis). Never any clicking (quite a lot of grinding, though, towards the end)

It may be worth checking with someone as it could be that there is a problem with the prosthesis.

I had this feeling mine was my IT BAND it made a snapping sensation . The It band is a workaholic muscle and its easy to overuse it , it can start to get tight . I would not perform movements that cause any clicking or pain , just give it a bit of a rest and maybe try to focus in strenghthening your glutes as these are typically weakend by hip replacements.

To put your mind at rest just get a quick XRAY if its really worrying you .

I have a similar "click" sometimes, but since I don't work out that much I don't put too much attention too it. Though your post got me thinking.
