Clindamycin cream

I was diagnosed in 2007 with lichen I was 37. My sex life was non existent for over 5 years stopped grabbing sex at 32. I finally found a Dr 3 hours away from my home and she was the one that diagnosed me. She studied abroad in Europe and went to different countries and cities just to learn about and treat disorders in females vaginas. I was su red and inflamed that she had a hard time getting the speculum in. I cried so much and screamed. She knew as soon as I was on the table in sturrups what I had but couldn't say yes til she took a swab. I was placed on clindamycin cream 2x a day for 30 days and a round of flagyl (7 days). Went back to see her and she put me on it for another 2 weeks just once a day. After that I felt brand new. I thought my lichen was gone. No burning, no soreness, no sores and I was having the best sex ever in years. Now that I have moved to another state I am having a time telling Dr's here What she did and have tried to get my records with no results. Talk to your Dr and see if they will try you on it. It's not a cheap medicine but so worth a try to see if it helps you. Also not sure if anyone has ever mentioned this in their posts but my Dr that I use to see told me every night before bed to stretch myself. Just gently pull the skin and hold for a few seconds. This helps release the fusing. It worked great for me after the clindamycin but unfortunately since I'm having a time getting a months worth I have to deal with a week supply to help ease the redness and soreness inside. I hope this info helps and maybe talking to your Dr will get you some relief. Good luck!

Hi Shiela,
do do you think moving caused some stress and you had a flare up? I think stress has a lot to do with it. I think I'm the same as you red and inflamed especially at the fourchette area. I was due a smear and was really worried but got through it with the help of the nurse, a cushion, and x small speculum no sex for years.

Hi Sue 162. I moved about 3 years ago and this has just come about. I was having no problems until I moved in with my son and his fiance for awhile to help with my grand daughter because my daughter in law to be will be going over seas. I stay stressed out and I know I'm not suppose to but I dont have a lot of me time. So I know that's why I'm in flare up mode again. I recently started dating someone and we have been intimate and it hurt and he is not a small in that region so I'm trying to heal before I lose someone good again to this problem.
Sue I had really good results using the clindamycin cream. I felt so soothed on the inside while using it and afterwards when I finished my treatment I felt like a new woman. I forgot to put in my post that I did use clobetasol ointment I had forgotten that I used it as well but just a very tiny bit at night rubbed in right before I used the Clindamycin cream. I really hope you get some relief soon. It is possible I've been there. Was there for about 8 years then the stress came rushing in when my dad passed and I moved in with my son. Good luck sweetheart wishing you lots of comfort!

This condition is stressful in its own right. I read a recent article that might be of interest to sufferers. It's about successful treatment of anogenital lichen sclerosus with topical tacrolimus.
