ok so I've been suffering 3 years nothing worked antibiotics cream antibiotics never helped.
so I brought some pessery in UK and they worked for a week then it came back but not as bad.
I did 2 weeks of boric acid I then had my period and after my period my knickers had that dry slight fishy smell but in my vagina was clean I put my finger in every day and it's never bad I'm clean and have been since pessarys and boric acid .
anyway I went to a sexual health clinic today just because they check inside and smell bv but she checked for bv thrush and sti that mimics bv but all clear I've normal ph levels
and the 2 nurses said they smelt nothing in my vagina or when I opened my legs to get tested .
I dont really know what this means because yes I'm fresher these days but I do still smell bv a slight fishy smell in my under wear .
usually I suffer over night so I get up for a pee and when I check my underwear straight after peeing I smell the fishy smell but no smell in my tunnel .
has anyone else got this problem being told ph levels are normal and you dont smell when they examine you ?
I'm thinking maybe because I no longer use soaps etc and just water and aqueous cream no smell or perfume that maybe it's my fanny and lips that smell .
so annoying ladies .

I'm pretty sure you're only smelling the ammonia from your urine on your underwear. It can sort of smell fishy from a distance but more ammonia when up close. This smell is an indication that you're dehydrated. Plus, if you're basing your BV symptoms on smell alone, why don't you go to a local pharmacy store and pick up pH strips? If it's anything above a pH of 4.5, you have an infection.

thank you for replying .
I've brought some ph sticks today .
I think it's the smell of lips and back passage at times when I've tight clothes on my bum is big these days maybe I'm sweating in that area .
it can be contained easy with boric acid anyway i suppose that's something if i ever have a partner again.
i use to use alot of products in the bath and now I'm using water i think this may factor .
this morning i had little fishy smell and it only happens at night then in the morning the slight smell occurs .
how are you doing with bv ?

You should drink a lot of water. Have you ever tried liquid chlorophyll? it's not a cure for bv but it is definitely combative to body odor. Also, do you think maybe you're obsessing a bit? I was like that when I kept getting it over and over again the first 2 years. (I've had BV for 4 yrs on and off) When i'd slightly smell fish after I had long term treatments, i'd go to my gyno and i'd test negative. She's tested me for everything under the sun and results all came back negative. She told me it's possibly my urine and i'm dehydrated if i smell ammonia, which i did at times. For me now, i know i have bv when I smell fish and pH strip tells me i'm over my normal acidic levels. For you, if it's a slight fish smell and your tests (clinic results and ph strips) come back negative, i would stop treating myself for an infection that is not there. Probiotics are not harmful but different brands may or may not work for you. My doctor always stressed to me that I need to know my triggers. If it's periods, use your pH strips and check to see if it's over a 4.5. That is the best way to know if you have an infection like BV and you will then know to use boric acid appropriately. (I suggest going to your clinic to get treated, make sure you're cured, and then use boric acid on your periods!) I haven't had BV in 4 months but i always get it when i have sex. Probably cos my body isnt used to anyone. Probiotics worked for me when i was having sex but they stopped (maybe cos i used another probiotic brand) once i let my ex finish in me. I was never again able to have sex with him without getting BV. So I now have long term metro gel i use every time i have sex until my body acclimates to my partner. My only triggers are sex, unfortunately.
