Clomipramine similars

Short question; anafranil (clomipramine) was given to me to my "bipolar headaches" that mostly caused my depressive phases but to me it works like an opioid and troubles my concentration and wakefullness. Is there any other antidepressant who works similar but without these annoying side effects?

    Hi casey.  Sorry I don't know the answer to your question.  The best thing to do is go back to your doctor and tell him/her of the side effects and ask if there are any other which might work better.  Meds work differently for different people and it's often a case of changing or tweaking a dose for maximum effect.  x

    Thanks hypercat, adding to the discussion I just read that antidepressants may lower blood pressure, and that makes sense because it makes me dizzy. Maybe that's the cause? I will check my doctor soon

    I am on ad's casey - sertraline and my blood pressure is fine.  Maybe it's just some of them cause dizziness?  I don't know enough to comment really so your doctor really is your best bet.  Let us know how you get on.  x

    Hi I also am not up to date with your problems, but you must get the best of help from your Doctor / Specialist and also do some research you self on the net it is interesting what you can find out.
