Clothes!

Morning guys!

I feel really low this morning, today I'm thinking I don't want me op, and thinking of ringing my hospital!

I'm worried now on what clothes to wear! I'm already stressing over money while I'm off!

What was all you lovely ladies wearing both in and out of hospital? The hospital where I supposed to be having it done want you out of night wear and in normal clothes! I'm thinking my jeans and leggings are going to be out of the question!

Thank you

    Hi Linzh

The most practical advice I was given re clothes were wear jogging bottoms with elastic acted waist and slip on shoes.

just wear something loose and comfortable!

    Good luck, you'll be fine

Hello yes I was almost cancelling mine being convinced the surgeon wanted practise. I went in with a long skirt, bare legs and I bought some leisure shorts from Primark to wear as pants. As it happens I stayed in my long sleep Tshirt everyday as it looked like a dress. My leg was very swollen so would not have managed trousers unless baggy joggers but skirt easier to get into over the head. Bought some cheap ballet type slipper in M&S also suitable for wear outside if dry. Wore the pants under sleepwear for decencies sake and they have wide legs and £3 per pair

Good luck see you on the other side x

    Hi linzh

I'm 2 weeks post op. Best thing ever .

😊 I feel great and excited about the future with no pain.

I took leggings and jeans with me but wished I had taken some soft baggy like trousers with me . I lived in them since being out too . So much nicer on your wound. Comfort is the way forward.

    I'm getting my staples out today , can't wait . Haha .

    Take care

My hospital said the same in the info. However in effect it was op gown for first night after op, then nightie for the next day. I took in slouch jeans, loose top and canvas shoes that I could get in without a shoehorn. Four weeks later still living in slouch jeans and tops most of the time. Got family to bring in changes of underwear etc whilst in hospital. Minimal toiletries as we were told they wanted us to use hospital supplies, this must vary from place to place. Hope this helps

Loose and comfortable. My Mother wore jogging bottoms and shoes that were secure around her foot. I don't think you will care about what you are wearing and will just be pleased it is over and you can go home biggrin

I understand completely about the worry of money, but if you don't have your operation you are definitely not going to be able to continue to work. The pain, lack of sleep etc will eventually mean you can't work even if you want to. Money should not stop you from doing something so important for your health.

I think this is anxiety about the operation to be honest, and it is a big operation so not surprising. I am the last person to tell you to relax, as I feel the same!!! BUT can we spend the rest of our lives like this?? No! At least when you come out of hospital your pain will be one of recovery and will end, and not the endless pain you are in now.....and at what point will we decide to go ahead, when we are bedridden with no life at all?? There is never a good time.

Perhaps some other patients on here can reassure you much better than I can, but if you read through my terrified thread there are many people who went back to work on week 3/4...Sorry you are so worried, I would be too, if it were me, but I am sure they will take such good care of you xxx

    Morning Linzh

    Dont ring that hospital !

I think we all go through thinking of really good reasons why we shouldnt have the op .......none of which really are as important as having a future without pain. At the moment everything seems to worry you and you get easily stressed. Try not to worry, I know you have been following thhe forum for a while so you will have read all those who have had the op, who were really  anxious before hand and then said that it wasnt anyway as bad as they had imagined.

Just try to organise as much as you can before you go to hospital and then concentrate on getting better.

I usually wear jeans and leggings but bought some softer loose fitting trousers that were easier to get on and off after the op and comfy too as you usually get some swelling and also more comfortable against the wound area. some people prefer skirts but you may not be a skirt girl.

one thing i would say is i wish i had taken a couple of nighties in to hospital much easier to manage than pjs or the dreaded hospital gown!

You will be fine and you will soon be back home. Try not to worry about money. Once you are on the road to recovery you will be able to start to plan ahead without the worry of an operation to stress over!

What is the date of your op?

    take care

Loose elasticated waist harem pants are fortunately fashionable right now so are available at every price! I am now wearing them for work poshed up with a short jacket and Matalan have lovely comfortable but smart slip on shoes. Nothing tight over the leg because of the scar and elastic in the waist because of overeating of chocolate to see us through the down days and total lack of exercise for a few weeks!

Don't cancel the op whatever you do.  You will feel so much better afterwards.  Wear jogging bottoms and loose top to go in, you can go home in these too.  I wore hospital gown for the first day and then my knee length nightdress and a light dressing gown.  You won't need too much.  I took shortie pyjamas as well and non slip slippers, but you will be okay in slip on shoes as well, as long as these have non slip soles.  Don't worry too much about clothes but don't wear anything tight.  Its all over before you know it and you will be glad you had it done. Good luck.

I went with jogging bottoms, they were fine but swapped to long skirts and bare legs once home. Easier to get on and comfortable.

    Slip on shoes.

Admit to going commando for a couple if days! Though don't tell anyone...... Just made life easier when going to loo.

Wish you well, accept the 'don't care pills' at the hospital before the op if on offer and take whatever's going after....

Ok call me crazy but I brought my family guy pajama's and an extra set of comfy lounge pants, you want something to easily put on. Tee shirts, robe, slip on sneakers. I was only in the hospital for 4 days and the first day I just wore of hospital issue gown. Once I was up and moving around the 2nd day I transitioned to my own clothes.
