Clothes and underwear

What does everyone wear weeks after surgery? I still have lots of swelling so my normal clothes dont fit and bother my incision. Underwear bothers my incision. So i have been wearing flannel jammie pants and going commando. Since i dont go out much that has been fine but with holidaud coming i need to dress a little better. I dont wear dresses. I normally wear jeans or nice pants. I am 6 weeks out and tired of looking like a bum. I normally pair my lounge pants with a nice matching shirt.

Loose fitting knickers... I got shorties 2 sizes bigger, how about looser trousers also so nice linen ones.    It is hard when you need to wear something nice in the first few weeks.

I was lucky mine done in the summer so had coulottes to wear

I had my op in May so it was warm. I wore elastic waist skirts, no tights. (Could use leg tan)

A tip I got about knickers, wear them inside out, so you don't have the seam stitching rubbing on your scar xx

That's a good idea I put mine on inside out by mistake the other day ,couldn't be bothered to re put them on and wore them like that all day ,much more comfortable 😀

I don't usually wear dresses that much but bought myself some skater style ones with pockets. Was brilliant. Also with underwear, high leg ones. When I went back to work, wore elasticated waist skirts that were a line or fuller rather than pencil. X

I bought some nice black yoga pants with a slight boot cut (I normally lounge in them so just bought one pair for "dressing up"! ;-). I have worn those with nice sweaters. For underwear, when needed, I use Jockey Slip Shorts or Skimmies. They are loose enough so I can put a dressing over my incision to prevent chafing (it's healed but still sensitive).

I feel for you winter hippies. I was lucky in the summer, wore dresses for weeks, and no need to bother trying to get on socks... I recommend high leg pants, you can pull them up above the scar. Otherwise I think you should just go for baggy comfort! I'm sure everyone would understand.

Very loose clothes. As loose as possible. You are smart to think of this beforehand. We scrambled after surgery and found some clothing from when I was heavier. Fortunately we hadn't thrown them out.

Mrs D, I know how you feel. I can't bear to have anything restrictive near my scar or 'nervy' hip. The elastic on my underwear drives me mad, my husband suggested buying some men's boxer shorts.....mmmmm I might just do that! What about softer type jog pants, some of those look nice when they are new? More stretchy.

Palazzos. That is one of the items that is always in my wardrobe anyway! But equally, wear what is comfortable. If beauty is only skin deep, clothes are nothing more than icing! Anyone who matters will be far more interested in seeing you than what you are wearing.
