Cod liver oil is good for you but why do you think you need Iron? If you need Iron your doctor can prescribe pills for you.

Just cause I think Im lacking iron in the food I take so thought it might make-up for it?

I would get a blood test to make sure as iron overload is dangerous.

You can always eat iron rich foods if you are deficient.

I think fish like tuna will work better than cod liver oil tablets and green vegetables in place of iron tablets. I would not take supplements unless you really need to. But back to the fish as I always enjoy sardines as well as they are high in the oil that you need, but if you are not sure then get them in tomato sauce.

I eat fish and chicken but thought If I took a iron tablet might do something.  Is it safe to have one a day as thats what it says on the label?

You need the oily fish like salmon, sardines, mackeral rather than cod, haddock etc.

    Hi Orange ~

Cod Liver is safe for most people.  In fact it has a positive effect on most people as well.  When taken in appropriate doses by mouth, cod liver oil seems to help lower high triglycerides (a type of blood fat), lower high blood pressure, and treat some symptoms of kidney disease related to diabetes. It doesn’t seem to lower high cholesterol or reduce arthritis pain. Other uses are still under investigation.

The downside to cod liver is: It can cause side effects including belching, bad breath, heartburn, and nosebleeds. Taking cod liver oil with meals can often decrease these side effects.

Special Precautions & Warnings: Pregnancy and breast-feeding: Not enough is known about the use of cod liver oil during pregnancy and breast-feeding. Stay on the safe side and avoid use.

High blood pressure: Cod liver oil can lower blood pressure and might cause blood pressure to go too low if used along with medications for high blood pressure. Be careful when using cod liver oil if you are taking high blood pressure drugs.

Iron supplements are not bad for you when you consume them in recommended amounts. Most people who eat an iron-rich diet don’t need to take an iron supplement. However, some people do require supplements to help prevent iron-deficiency anemia. Always consult with your doctor before taking an iron supplement, and ask for dosage recommendations.

All this information was taken off Google.  You can google and find out more about both cod liver oil and iron.  I wish you luck!

Also, orange, you can get iron in spinach and like mark said.  Not sure of your age but do you go get a check up every year?  Your blood is usually checked to see if you're iron deficient or vitamin D etc...so, if you don't go for a yearly check up, you just may want to make an appt and if your blood work comes back as deficient, they usually call and let you know, right?
