Hiya! I've suffered with anemia for 3 years, b12 iron and folic acid, been told I have IBS as always suffered with bloating, cramps etc had a blood test for coeliac and all the tested me for was TTG is this an accurate blood test or is there more anti bodies that need to be tested for? Referred for an endoscopy but still waiting for an appointment for that

    Hi,

Regardless of what blood tests they do for coeliac disease, they are generally not as reliable as biopsies.  If you have been referred to endoscopy clinic all will become clear after this. Just ensure you are eating gluten on a daily basis for at least 6 weeks before your endoscopy otherwise your results won't be accurate and may need to have another one. Good luck!

Thank you, my TTG antibody test came back negative and because of that they didn't test for any of the other anti bodies which seems odd to me but online it says TTG can still come back negative, sooo frustrating haha

When you get to see your consultant at the endoscopy clinic, make sure they will test specifically for coeliac disease as well as any other planned testing, otherwise you may find yourself having to have another at a later date. My bloods came back negative but my biopsies proved positive.
