Coffee triggered my anxiety :(

2 hours ago I drank a small cup of coffee. I have no idea how dying it was but it was thing enough to make me have anxiety. My head started to hurt. I feel like my heart is about to explode/bury out of my chest at any moment and it’s such an awful and scary feeling. It makes me feel like I’m about to die of a heart attack. My hearts starting to beat fast and my hands are trembling. I haven’t been eating well either is it probably made it worse. I drank water to help relieve it but to no avail. Anyone had this experience before? How long until it’s over?

Update: Heart is starting to pound fast and my face feels numb. Legs are sweating.

Update 2: chest is hurting from palpitations and I feel like I’m about to throw up 😦

Doubt if it was caused by a small amount of coffee. If it still persists go to a hospital E/R.

OMG I loved coffee. Drank it all the time. Then I started to have anxiety attacks and my doctor told me to stop drinking it so I did. Did not touch it for years and when I stopped drinking it my anxiety never really improved.

However one day at work years later I was kind of tired, got a whiff of that smell and decided to indulge. I never feared drinking coffee or anything like that. However my body was no longer used to it as I don't drink even soda with caffeine. Anyways and half way through my cup I too had way more energy than what I knew what to do with. Shaking, fast heart rate, everything you mentioned. Super alert and aware of everything. Luckily it happened at work and I had lots of distractions. Distractions is my most used coping mechanism.

I am going to say the worst of it lasted about an hour. I was still overly high strung, alert, awake but less on edge after that as I became either accustomed to those feelings or they actually became less severe. But yeah, even though I loved it in the past I am never touching it again. Hope you feel better soon.

Try drinking De Caff Coffee and Tea, that should help you to control your anxiety.

Make an appointment with your GP, make a list of your concerns before the appointment and take it with you, this will help you to explain all your Anxiety and Panic Attack, and not forget anything

Lots of people don't drink coffee because of this reason. I drink caffeine free coffee now. It's actually not that bad.
