I've never had cold sore fever. But whenever I have had cold sores I get very run down and am more likely to become ill because of this. Not sure this helps you but just try relaxing and I also avoid mirrors when I have a cold sore so I don't feel so bad about how they look either

    Hello Aussiechick,

    Yes it's really irritating!!!

The duration of an outbreak varies from one person to another. Mine lasted 5 days and luckily for me I didn't have fever nor swollen gums but I did have swollen glands.

Are you taking the pills as well as using the cream? They work hand in hand. I used Acyclovir pills and cream and that helped tremendously.

As SophieC94 suggested, try to relax. The more stressed you are the more the outbreak will be prolonged. If this is your first outbreak I can understand that you are stressed and worried about alot of different things. But you have to keep in mind that these worries will only make the situation worse.

You also have to consider eating more healthy(i.e if you are not already doing that), exercise regularly. I take daily multivitamine pills with pineapple juice(from the recommendations of another forum member) I don't know if the latter helps as I have had only one outbreak since my diagnosis. I'm not going to stop taking it just to be a thomas and find out if it works or not smile
