Cold symptoms leading to anxiety?

For the past couple of days, I've been getting cold/allergies symptoms (sore throat, flem, and clogged nose whenever I lay down. ) Last night I laid down to go to sleep and whenever I was "half way" asleep I woke up gasping for air, triggering my anxiety. I tried repeatedly to go back to sleep and I kept getting the same results. My nose was clogged and no matter how much I breathed in through my nose, I felt like I wasn't getting a full breath of air. Breathing through my mouth was the only way I could get a full breath. I took a hot shower and that opened my nose a little bit. However I started to notice my mind was a little "cloudy". Today it's the same thing. I want to know if this is anxiety or something physical going on. I'm a 22 year old male who doesnt have any health conditions. Went to the hospital a year and a half ago thinking I was having a heart attack however they ruled it as an anxiety attack. I exercise regularly as well. Going through a lot with stress as well (family, financially, etc) can someone please help me out?

you probably do have a cold or allergies or both. i wouldnt worry about( i know its easier said than done with anxiety)

it will probably go away in a few days. your over thinking it giving yourself anxiety symptoms ( cloudy brain is 1 symptom.

no bodies ever died from a stuffy nose. its more of a pain in the a** than anything.

    hope you feel better soon.

In my past I have always felt an elevated sense of anxiety with illness and especially with infection. Sometimes I will even get anxiety before the infection becomes evident. This also happens to my aunt, who is the one that brought it to my attention.

I hope you get feeling better.

Hi, when I've been anxious in the day this is exactly what happens to me, you fall half asleep and you wake up gasping for air like you went to sleep but didn't breath.

You obviously have a cold, and worries about your health have triggered anxiety, which is causing this breathing thing. It is really scary (i have them a lot) but you just need to recognise its your anxiety.
