Hey., just thought a would write afew words regards to cold turkey from sertaline.. So here I am day 7. What a week ?? Brain Zapps are coming along thick an fast . First few days were bad had the runs, sickness in and out of sleep sweats. But set aside that lol the world seemed brighter more loud . Weird but nice 😉 Anybody thinking it will be easy I assure you it is far from that. But with each day brings s new reason to why you decided to STOP. Well I keep telling myself this lol my honest opinion to steraline is does it work YES

Is it nice to begin NO

Is it hard to get off YES

But my mind now would not have been thinking an strong enough to take the decision to stop so on a bright note here's to losing the blanket an fighting through 🙏🙏??

Hi John, what joyous symptoms! How long have you been taking Sert for if I may ask? I’m trying to withdraw as it seems to be making my long term tinnitus worse. I’m on a low dose of 25mg now, still low mood but I think is because of the worsening T.  Best wishes  Eve

      hey eve.

sorry for the reply being a while .

i was taking sert for about 2 years . symtoms were bad for maybe 7days  sickness , head aches, loose bowls, agitated, paranoid .

But after 2weeks they where gone sometimes i wake up abit off and think to myself oh s**t its back lol but i can safely say it the best thing i have done. its been a hard 3months alot of ups an downs but i now dont think of them anymore i have just had an ace interview for a job thats really good was really nervous night before but on the day composed myself an went for it no anxiety clear head an was told i have a real good chance for the position so my minds alot clear i think without the comfort blanket lol . its been 3 MONTHS now since i took sert and can say im looking forward to the next 3 .

i wish you all the best with your recovery .. try to look deep into the reason you take this medication and do things for yourself to make yourself  happy an stop worring if were making others happy . even if its for an hour a day its nice to be yourself.

      hope it helps

      Hi John

So nice that you are doing well. I’m still taking a low dose of Sert but the depression has lifted massively. Still morning anxiety and of course tinnitus! I have had it for a long time but had habituated. Trying hard to rehabituate and that can take a long time but may be possible 🤞. Back to driving and going out now, on the mend but still a way to go. Best wishes for your future. Eve

You are soooo brave, I’ve cut down from 50mg to 25mg a year ago, this week I will try to skip every other day and I will do this for at least 3 months.

Why did you decide to stop cold turkey?

Why not taper, theirs no rush and plus less withdrawals I think?

But well done I do admire you’re strength.

    Please keep us updated.

      hey.

      sorry for late reply .

I decided they were doing alot worse than they were doing good after 2 years , i became reliant on my meds every morning to get me through the day, so i woke up one day an said im off them and put them in the bin full month worth an it was bin day so yeah bit of a weird thing to do but had had enough of the pills. so cut a long story short its now been 3 months since i had them its been up an down but i feel positive towards the end of the 3months thanks for your kind words i hope your doing well ..?
