Sometimes the only effect of coeliac disease is to cause anaemia.  This was the situation with me although the GP in my case just prescribed ferrous sulphate tablets to deal with the iron deficiency and didn't take it further.  That I was suffering from coeliac disease was found during an endoscopy session looking for something else.  It was a bit of a surprise when I was told that I had the problem.  I have now been gluten-free for just over three years and have been taken off the tablets because my iron levels are now normal.  The only disadvantage is that I now suffer the full blown symptoms of coeliac disease if I happen to consume gluten, you can't win them all!
