Today I was diagnosed with global colonic slow transit and have been told that i will be getting colonic irrigation. A specialist nurse will come to me house to show me what to do! Anyone else done this?

    Hello,

I'm sorry you'ryou're going through this. I know how it feels to have digestive problems. I tried colonic a few times and it helped some but not enough to improve my chronic constipation. I just read a bit about it and it seems doctors have varying opinions about the safety of the practice.

Did the doc explain what this is and why they recommended it? Were you presented any other options?

Hi, thanks for your reply. Yes I've been on lots of laxatives but they dont work. Being put on another one called Prucalopride for 4 weeks then see the consultant on 6th July to discuss how i get on pllus the colonic. Nothing else has been said yet. I am also waiting on a proctogram. Its taking so much out of me.

You need to change up your diet. You need fiber fiber fiber and lots of water. I know people dont like Metamucil but two tablespoons in water in the am and pm and lots of water daily. Then change up your food. Cheese sand bread and meat are and can be detrimental on your body. Try veggies that have fiber. Fruits but mostly veggies and lots of WATER

YOU are totally right! I believe I'm sensitive to All of those foods you mentioned give me problems too-just hard to COMPLETELY stay away from foods that have been a HUGE part of your life and are food in so many other foods.

I've been drinking this plant/veggie based powdered shake Organic Protein by Purely Inspired and it's great! I recommend the vanilla flavor. I add applesauce, cinnamon and frozen fruits to it. I've been drinking A LOT of water and salads. I do fall off sometimes but there are times when I don't.

I have intussusception-telescoping colon...its the WORST! No doctor wants to touch it....im left to find for myself. Having bad back/spine and pelvic prolapse ain't helping.
