Colon Cancer?

I'm 25 years old, have suffered from chronic stomach problems for the past few years. My stomach gets upset very easily, even though I eat healthy and consistently. I have frequent urges to urinate, and sometimes have a hard time emptying my bladder. My stools are always hard and small or pencil thin and long. I either have low bowel movements, or sudden diarrhea. I don't drink alcohol, never smoked, and am not on any medication. I went to the emergency room last week because I had excruicating pain in the left side of my abdomen, and the doctor just wrote it off as constipation. For the last eight days, I haven't had a bowel movement at all. I've tried everything from laxatives to home remedies, and nothing works. On top of that, I had an allergic reaction to the laxative, so trying others are kind of out of the question. Seemingly unrelated, I've also been suffering from lightheadedness, dry skin, and back pain with no professional diagnosis determined for any of these symtoms. I've had general blood work done, and everything appeared normal. A coworker of mine mentioned how a friend of his was suffering from similiar digestive issues, and it turned out that she had colon cancer at age 30. Should I be scared? What should I do?

    Hi,

Get an endoscopy and colonoscopy done. Biopsy result will clear your doubts.

I have an uncle suffered same symptoms. Because of him leaving in denial and ingoring these symptoms, his cancer has spread to Stage IVĀ

Hi, I agree with the first responder, if you can afford then book an appointment to get these tests done privately so that you will have your mind put at ease rather than waiting .

If the diagnosis means treatment is needed then it could be done by nhs.

    Hi, Bookreader,

Sorry to learn you're going through this.  If you haven't had a bowel movement at all for 8 days, that's serious.  I suggest you go to the ER if you're in the USA or to A&E if you're in the United Kingdom.

You need a referral to a gastroenterologist to order the necessary tests and give you a diagnosis. You know your body best, and what you're going through is not normal!

Good luck to you, and let us know how you do!

Of course you'll get lightheaded if you don't have bowel movements for 8 days.. Is there a reason why you are constipated? There is usually a reason like opiate based pain killers or not enough fluids or fibre in the diet or lack of exercise. If you can't see any lifestyle factors being responsible then you need proper tests.. Colonoscopy would be the best way for them to see if there's anything sinister going on.

You could try milk of magnesia.. As it's magnesium you won't have any rections to it as it's a vital life mineral which we all need to live and function properly but in the case of milk of mag it draws water into the bowel to soften up stools..
