Hi Jill.....Thankfully all went well today.....biopsy was clear but he has advised me to have total colectomy   as my stats for cancer r getting higher every year. My uc is still moderate to severe activity so doesn't look as if it's settling any time soon. Big decision to make and lots thought to go into it but at least biopsy clear . sorry u prob didn't c other message from last nite as I had wrote it to myself lol x

Hi MJ,sooo glad biopsy was clear..can only imagine how anxious you were. Re advice for op,like you say lots of soul searching/research to do. Did you get any feedback from others with stricture? Is op the only way forward? If you do decide to go for it at least no more UC. Please keep in touch xx

Touch wood settled down more now so we will stay on a bit! Upped meds in case a flare was imminent, these cramps drive me insane! Don't seem to be food related Praps wind!!! Take care xxxx

Hi MJ,really don't know what causes my cramps! Tried ommiting loads of foods etc..doesn't seem to make any difference. Had quite bad daily pains for week or so and wondered if it was immflamation. No blood, urgency just bloating/pain. Upped Asacol from 16mg to 2.4 and added enema for a week. Been lot better but feel it could be gas/slight constipation related so am starting Dulcolax tonight and will see how it goes. Don't like upping the Asacol without more symptoms ??? Enough of me,how you doing?? Xx

Hi Jill....yeah could b inflammation . And it's a case of trial and error to c what might work to relieve symptoms. Hope that one works for u.  Yeah I'm good ...just reading away....some of american literature will say that cancer risks with uc don't actually rise that much so. Don't no what to believe ! U r damned if u do and u r damned if u don't...a wee miracle would come in handy lol xx

Well seen surgeon who has advised ileostomy as opposed to jpouch. He reckons it doesn't go as well for older people and has roughly life span of 20 years leaving me about 80 and if I'm still about don't think I would fancy more bowel surgery at that age lol. He was nice guy in his 40s with lot of these type operations behind him. Am meeting up with him and stoma nurse in couple weeks and he's planning surgery for 4-6 weeks eeek 😱 So probably need to start getting myself ready physically and mentally ! X MJ
