Colonoscopy

I have had a second Colonoscopy today and was dreading it to the point of almost backing out at the hospital, I had a very painful first one in January of this year when I had a Polyp removed. I was given sedation and subsequently slept until I awoke towards the end of the procedure in absolute agony and drenched in sweat which resulted in them losing the Polyp and was told I would have to have another as there was another suspected Polyp there which they couldn't remove due to my distress. Well this time, no pain, just mild discomfort, I even watched the procedure on the screen all the way through and no Polyps were found this time. I was given the same sedation as the first time, no Entinox for either as it makes me sick.
I am convinced it depends on who does it, I had a different Doctor today who understood my trauma last time and talked me through the process from start to finish and I can honestly say the prep was the worst part this time. I have to go back for another in a years time. I was in and out within 2 hours.
Any questions please ask!

They actually failed to retreive the one Polyp that I had removed during my first Colonoscopy so they couldn't send it to the lab to test it I can only hope it was non cancerous? but have no way of knowing really, they did say it didn't look suspicious, so hopefully it wasn't? No more Polyps were found during my second one yesterday thankfully, but I also have to have another Colonoscopy in 1 years time, probably because they couldn't test the one they removed.
Not all Polyps are cancerous, just better to have them removed to be on the safe side.
Maybe you should go back to see your doctor again to go over your results, just to put your mind at rest. If they said they weren't telling you it was cancer then hopefully a non cancerous (benign) tumour was removed?
I hope everything works out well for you. Best wishes, linda97485

They sedated me and I immediately fell asleep, I think they must have lost it when I woke up part way through the procedure restless and in severe pain.

The good news is that they have found it and will now perform regular Colonoscopy's to check for any future polyps or abnormalities and deal with if necessary, after all having a Colonoscopy can save lives.
I understand how worrying this can be but surely as found to be suspicious they will treat you accordingly and keep a close eye on you in the future.
I wish you the very best, linda97485

Thank you for your reassuring words. You have a sensible way of looking at things, and of course you are right. I am still fearful of the outcome. I have just completed chemo for a blood cancer and I am now in remission. I felt on top of the world until all this happened.
Thank you again for your comments. I wish you good health in the future.
