Hi there,
I just wanna share my story and hoping that it may serve as an encouragement to anyone. I got my hem 23 years ago when I gave birth to my daughter. I had my first flare up year 2007, the pain was intense and I was bleeding then. Doctor advice me to put some cream, took daflon and do some hot sitz to minimize the swelling. 2017, another flare up happened and was diagnosed with Grade 3 thrombosed internal and prolapse external hem. I did research and made some home remedy that I found out in the internet but to no luck. i tried to read some stories regarding hemorrhoidectomy but it just gave me fear and anxiety. Last month was the most terrifying and painful experience I had coz I was bleeding to death for almost 3 weeks, coudn't sit, and walk properly. I was so afraid to under go op because of what I read but I really need faith to take some courage and do the right thing or be sorry for the rest of my life. Sept 10, when I decided to undergo hemorrhoidectomy. The day before my surgery, I was confined to the hospital and they gave me surelax and enema in preparation for my colonoscopy. It is quite painful because the hem becomes swelling and tender coz u need to go to the bathroom several times. An hour later, at the operating room I was sedated using IV and didn't know what happened next. My fear was gone in just one snap. When I woke up, I already see myself in the recovery room. By the way, Grade 3 two internal hem was removed.
Day 1 & 2 still in the hospital and had may 1st and 2nd Bm as well. During that time, never felt pain coz I was given painkiller tru Iv. Everything was smooth and manageable until I went back home. I tried to drink at least 2L of water, ate oatmeal and had clium as my stool softener, given antibiotic, hot sitz will be your best friend.
Day 3 I ate oatmeal, drank a warm water in the morning and took my painkiller medicine. Bm was soft, don't need to strain and pain was still manageable. I took skudexa as painkiller, this one is really helpful but the downside is I vomit and feel dizzy all the time. so what I did is only took 1 tablet a day instead of 3x a day.
Day 4 will never forget this day, I was in extreme pain when I had my Bm, nothing I can do but cried. Thank GOD i only need to go to the bathroom once. During flare up since mine is thrombosed and prolapse, the pain level is high, but this pain I experienced now is different from before, I can say 10/10 level of pain.
Day 5 this time I already planned everything in preparation for the pain. Woke up at 7am, had my oatmeal, prepare my hot sitz using warm water, another preparation is boiling guava leaves use it for another hot sitz bath after BM for about 20 to 30 mins. It is very soothing and relaxing aside from the benefits of anti inflammation and healing agent for the wound. Pain is still intense but what I did is everytime I go to the bathroom I took skudexa painkiller and this is really amazing, it took only 5 mins for pain to subside, after that everything works fine. I only took painkiller once for the rest of the day coz the pain is still manageable.
Today is day 6, Bm was soft, pain level is 6/10 that is only during BM and will last for only 5mins, of course with the help of painkiller. hot sitz using plain water 3x a day, boiling guava leaves hot sitz 2x a day, drink lots of water, oatmeal, don't forget fiber foods, prunes, raisins, papaya, pears, melon, yogurt, wheat bread.
Still work in progress though but don't let your emotion dominate you, fear is a paralyzing agent. Your life is valuable so take a leap of faith to do what is right and face your fear. Praying for complete healing and fast recovery for all of us in JESUS name. To God be the glory. Will update soon. God bless everyone.
