colonoscopy in doubt

I thought that if polyps were discovered during a colonoscopy ,they were removed in situ. Some were discovered in my lower colon ,,and left where they were, I di ask why,and was told that they were "Not Sinister " They might not have been at the time ,but that they were removed ,,,just in case

Has this happened to anyone else ??

That does sound unusual. Did they at least biopsy them? There are some types of polyps that can turn cancerous (adenomas) and others that can't (hyperplastic polyps). But my understanding is that they need to look at them under a microscope to determine the type of polyp, a doctor can't be sure just by looking at them. If I were you I'd ask for a copy of the colonoscopy report and then get a second opinion.

A Nurse did the colonoscopy. who had trouble getting anywhere up the colon, at all. I did actually see that the camera tube had doubled back on itself .He did say that there were some polyps ,but they were left in situ. I was quite alarmed at this don't care attitude, and the fact that a FULL colonoscopy had not been carried out ..I did in fact write to the consultant and told him what had not been done, and it was my knowledge that polyps were removed .his comment was ,that he had looked at the scan ,and had seen nothing "sinister " and the polyps were to remain.
