Oh dear in a nutshell you've both come off too quickly !

the recommendation is to taper down by 10% per month of the last dose.

ive been tapering since Oct last year and I was on 50mg for two years. I will be off completely in a month. I haven't had any withdrawal effects.

if you are suffering bad withdrawals it's advised to reinstate to the last dose you took for a month then taper more slowly.

if you look on this site under 'sertraline withdrawal does it go away'

lots of good advice on there

    all the best x

Thank you, Tezes, for jumping on and giving the advice I would have given!

Frustrating but true, going off too fast means withdrawal symptoms that can last for months and even years.  So, as Tezes said, reinstate to the last dose, stabilize, and then commence with a much slower taper, 10% per month of the previous dose being a guarantee for success.

Cuts should never be done when you are having WD symptoms; that means your nervous system is already struggling to cope with the missing medication, so taking more away only causes more upset.  The nervous system adapts to the presence of the drug by down-regulating receptors and neurotransmitters, so removing the drug means adapting in reverse and this can take longer than one would think.

If you would like more information, Joanne, on how to taper sert, reply here and I will PM you info.

      Hi Betsy

well after 6 months of tapering at last I'm down to the size of Half a grain of rice with my sertraline tablet. I've been taking it at this % for the last 3 weeks.

i just wanted to ask how to I jump off altogether, do I just stop maybe next week or start taking this amount every other day for a few weeks?

I feel fine no real withdrawal apart from the odd bad dream and random pinpricks on my skin that make me jump.

hope you are well yourself, thanks in advance for any tips/advice
